UCUSAF -
Access Infrastructure Program

UCUSAF’s program aims to extend telecommunications access to unserved and underserved areas that are not commercially viable for licensed operators. This initiative aligns with several SDGs, including SDG 9, which promotes resilient infrastructure and sustainable industrialization, and SDG 10, which seeks to reduce inequalities in access to resources and opportunities. By extending telecommunications access, UCUSAF is helping to bridge the digital divide, level the playing field, and promote greater access to information and communication technologies. Additionally, the program contributes to SDG 11, which aims to make cities and human settlements sustainable, safe, and inclusive, by enabling residents to access information and participate in the digital economy.

This has been done through; Construction of GSM telecom tower Infrastructure in unserved and underserved areas, Upgrading of GSM Masts from 2G to 3G, greenfield towers 3G/4G sites and installation of Internet Points of Presence at local government administrative points/ headquarters, and Installation of Public Pay Phones.

This program has led to improved device and internet use penetration, which in turn has resulted in the extension and growth of innovative ICT-based products and services, ultimately leading to increased socio-economic productivity.
